The Nurse Compact Act was effective on June 1. See rules implementing the Nurse Compact Act. The Missouri State Board of Nursing has prepared an excellent resource for employers "Important Information for Employers of Nurses in Missouri" and has posted FAQs on their website.

Status of Controlled Substance Prescriptive Authority for APRNs

In 2008 the Governor signed legislation into law granting prescriptive authority for controlled substances for APRNs. In 2009, legislation was enacted granting similar authority to physician assistants. However, APRNs and PAs may not write prescriptions for controlled substances yet.

Full Membership:

RNs in a leadership position or aspiring to be leaders, graduate nursing administration program faculty, past presidents, retired MONL members and other RNs who support the mission and goals of MONL.

Associate Membership:

RNs enrolled in a relevant degree program and not otherwise eligible for membership. May attend meeting and programs but are not permitted to vote or hold office.

Honorary Membership:

Full rights and privileges for life conferred on retired MONL members by the board of directors. Dues are waived for honorary members.

Dues:

Membership dues are $50 per year for active and associate memberships
